Mary Lou Dimsdale

Mary Lou Dimsdale

Mary Lou Dimsdale (b.1941) found her passion as a visual artist late in life. Dimsdale, already in her late sixties, started working as a studio artist out of the progressive studios of the Tierra del Sol Foundation in 2009. By exploring her artistic practice in a creative arts studio, she found her voice, despite not ever attending any post high school programs. Dimsdale is a painter whose work knows no boundaries when it comes to creating. She intertwines images from her own imagination and everyday scenes and creates with unbridled confidence and familiarity. Initially Dimsdale worked with more local and traditional colors and advanced to use an extraordinary level of interpretive and imaginative palettes. Playing with line, language, perspective, scale, and the careful modulation of color and brush stroke, Dimsdale draws the viewer into her whimsical and playful world. Her skilled infusion of graphic designs into everyday scenarios result in an extraordinary revelation, both from the artist’s imagination and fascinating glimpses into everyday life. Dimsdale has exhibited locally and regionally at Santa Monica Hangar Galleries, Santa Monica, Bridge Gallery City Hall, Los Angeles, Long Beach Art Expo, Long Beach, and exhibits at the Special Olympics World Games, Los Angeles and is included in corporate installations such as LA Councilmember Blumenfield’s District office, Reseda and Precision Dynamics Corporation, Valencia
